Love the place ... Tip: try to get a seating on one of the sofas in the courtyard. Favs: tostadas de ceviche de coco, pescado al mojo de ajo.

Props for the beautiful decor and outstanding service and I love that there's a plant-based menu now. The beet tostadas were great and the enchiladas and chile relleno were pretty good too. I think the entrees could use a little more fat and flavor. If both had a cashew crema sauce, maybe some hot sauce too, spiced pumpkin seeds, fresh cilantro...it would have been perfect. I just think both could benefit from some additions so that they feel really special like the ambience and service.

I cannot rave enough about how seamless planning a dinner for a large work group was at Fonda San Miguel. I was very easily able to call and make reservations and adjusted it the day before to accommodate for changes in the party size. Everyone absolutely loved the interior decoration. It takes you away from the increasingly modern city to a Mexican oasis. The food was also delicious. We ordered a few appetizers to share. I really enjoyed the queso fundido and recommend getting it with rajas and chorizo verde. I ended up ordering the enchiladas de mole poblano with duck (as recommended by the waitress) and I absolutely loved all the flavors packed in each bite. Overall I had a great experience at Fonda San Miguel. I definitely recommend making a reservation ahead of time for a seamless experience.

An Austin staple! Always good and always delicious! This time I visited for happy hour with friends. The drinks and appetizers are always flavorful. Service was quick and friendly. We arrived right when it opened at 5pm and there was a line. The restaurant was filled at opening and that's how you know it's good.

Fonda San Miguel is one of my go-to restaurants to take out of town guests to show off the beautiful ambiance, great service, and delicious food. Amazing plant based/vegan menu!!!! I think my favorites are the vegan enchiladas, but the vegan cauliflower tacos are delicious too. Don't skip the drinks-they are all wonderful! It's not inexpensive, but worth it!! Be sure to make a reservation'

When parents come from out of town and ask for the best Mexican food, you take them to Fonda! Patrick was a friendly and attentive server. We enjoyed delicious cocktails, including Mescal Paloma and a featured Anejo tequila. The queso fundido appetizer was generous portion for three people and served with warm tortillas for dipping. For dinner, we enjoyed the Carne Asada and cheese enchilada (perfectly seasoned and served, medium rare). I chile relleno and my boyfriend had the grilled fish and vegetables. While we were full, we still tried a scoop of the homemade vanilla ice cream and mango sorbet. Both were refreshing and they taste of like a Creamsicle together. Can't wait to come back.

I loved walking into this "midnight summers dream"- esque restaurant ! I had been here years ago, but walking in last night was very dreamy. I loved all of the lights the plants in the atrium, especially. We walked in without reservations, and we're seated within a minute. It was amazing. We luckily went on a weeknight. That wasn't too busy. The host and the waiters were also friendly and welcoming. You could feel the warmth. The drinks were fantastic and strong to boot! Food was delicious! And yes I feel like it was worth the price! One thing I wish they had was the ceviche chips served with the chips and salsa because they were two different type of chips. And the chips that came with the ceviche were the bomb.

We have been meaning to come here for a while and finally came with family visiting. Before I talk about the food, this was definitely upscale Mexican. Expect pricing accordingly, but we all thought it was worth it between the upscale atmosphere and food. To start we had their margaritas and Queso fundido. My father-in-law liked it so much he ordered a second. I'll tell you right now that was a terrible idea even if it was delicious. For dinner I had the Cochina Pibil, which was amazing. Don't worry about the size. I ordered thinking it would be smaller, but it actually makes 4 tacos. They bring corn and flour tortillas that were clearly freshly made in house and the meat has a ton of flavor. Others ordered the Camerones en cream de chipotle and were absolutely floored with how good it was. Now I can't forget to mention how great the service was. I unfortunately lost track of our waitresses name before writing this review, but she was attentive, extremely knowledgable about the menu, made great recommendations, and went out of her way to answer questions we had. In case anyone was wondering, the shrimp is wild caught in the gulf. We will definitely be returning. I just hope that someone can figure out our waitress because she absolutely made the experience great from beginning to end. If it helps, we were also the table that asked if the statue was a horse or a donkey :).

In a city full of Mexican Food options let this place wow you and take your taste buds to the heart of Mexico. I have been here one other time back when they had their Sunday brunch. That was a great way to try several things. Well that is no longer an option but I wanted to treat my wife to a night out so reservations were made for an early Friday dinner. As you walk in thru the grand entrance the ambiance is warm and inviting, the sounds of good conversations can be heard. The art work is beautiful and the designs of the interior makes you feel like you walked in off the streets of Mexico City. The staff is welcoming and attentive!! We chose to share a few delectable dishes as to sample the cuisine. We ordered the pastor tacos as a starter. The fresh made corn tortillas were warm and fluffy! The meat itself was flavorful and seasoned to perfection. The small bites of pineapple paired with the spicy salsa made for a tremendous bite each time. For entrees we chose the carne asada and paired it with the duck enchilada and the nightly special of seared scallops. What a delightful choice it was. The steak was some of the most tender beef I've had and the duck enchilada was tremendous. The flavor of the cream sauce mixed with the rich duck was elegant. The scallops, were absolutely delightful paired with perfectly cooked vegetable succotash. They served them with a spicy chili oil that had pecans and cashews. The combination of the flavors in the dish were thoughtfully designed. In short Fonda is a must try and a wonderful choice for a dinner date.

Solid five stars. I'm pretty sure I heard Joe Rogan talk about this spot. Well we found it on yelp and it looked good so we gave it a try. It reminds me a lot of Ambriza in houston Texas. Great decor. Food; the funding with chorizo is very good! Very tasty and full of flavor. The pastor tacos are probably some of the best pastor tacos I've had in my life. On god. So dam good and full of flavor. My girl really like her tostadas too! Be prepared to wait. We got very lucky. Found parking and the last table near the walk in section. ************************************************* I should deduct one star and give them a four review for serving up chips out of a bag. Come on, serve some home made chips. Chips out of a bag suck! lol management please address and serve home and chips! Also the service was really slow. We waited for ever for our food. Another star should be deducted and they would be at 3 stars. Took forever to refill our water. Very slow at everything. The food was great though and the customer service was good. ************************************************* I'll definitely come back though. Please address the things noted in the box above!
